What's the premise?
A witch has drawn you into a "pocket dimension", unreachable by normal means. The island itself, situated within the Bermuda Triangle, is prone to all sorts of strange and sometimes shocking events! Things are never as they seem.
Aliens, plane crashes, monster attacks, mysterious lost cities... you never know what's going to wash up on the shores of Isle Bermuda. Eureka might claim to know, but maybe, secretly, she's just as trapped as you are...
How do I join?
If you like the premise and want to join in, you just claim your character on the Claims page, linked in the profile. After you've claimed someone, you just join the communities and post to your heart's content! We're a smallish game, so we have no problem welcoming new people in. If we got bigger, this set-up might change, but that's how it is for now!
We aren't without standards, however; By joining you are simply expected to be able to write and spell competently, be polite to other players, and participate in the game at least somewhat. You also don't have to make a Plurk or join any chatrooms if you don't want to. ♥
We now have an optional application you can fill out, if that suits your fancy better!
Where is my character exactly?
Isle Bermuda. It is a massive tropical island covered in jungle, with a large mountain rising in the center. There's odd things to be found nearly everywhere.
After waking up on the beach or close to it (they may wash up with the tides or snap out of a doze under a palm tree), they'll find the little tablet and a letter, welcoming them to Isle Bermuda. The letter will say they're here to entertain Lady Eureka, though her grasp on the situation isn't as strong as she makes it seem. She's a third-rate witch, after all. The island might start toying with her as well!
The island has a sprawling mansion, a beautiful beach shore, a few shrines, and many other hidden secrets for you to discover.
How does everyone on the Island communicate?
When you arrive, you'll find a hard, shiny tablet that acts in much the same way as an iPhone, only not quite as multfunctional. Its origin has not yet been revealed; suffice to say, throwing it away will not get rid of it. The device will be back in your pocket or safely on your bed again later. It can record and display video, text, voice, etc. Typical stuff! We have a community for logs atbermudatriangle.
You can also make action posts! The device reacts to thoughts as well as touch, so if you can't operate something "high tech", it'll do what your character needs it to regardless. It may also record what your character is seeing without express consent for it to do so. (Cruelty potential? Maybe.)
Where do people live?
Along with the device they'll have a key tied to it on a gold string (unbreakable, so don't try), which is labeled with the number of a room. That room is in one of the many guesthouses. There is only one key given to each person who inhabits a room. The rooms may vary only slightly (by where they are located in the guesthouse), but are all roughly the same size as a hotel room would be. They have a fridge, a bathroom, a bed, etc...
Your character's room is their base of operations- if you want to utilize it. Your character is, of course, free to live outside of the guesthouses on their own. You can even make a house out of old plane wreckage if you want to-- there's enough debris lying around!
What kind of events will there be?
The events will vary, depending on suggestions, plots, seasons, etc. Most will encourage group participation, but we are open to character-based plots, violence, UFO abductions, anything and everything. Eureka may play around with magic and cause some unusual things to happen as well.
Who can I apply for?
Anyone you like! We accept fan AUs, canon AUs, comic, live action, anime, video games, whatever. We are not currently accepting OCs, unfortunately!
Your characters can be brought here from other games, even if the game is defunct or they were dropped. I figured I would mention this as an option!
They can also bring whatever they had with them when they were pulled, though we can stretch this a little to include pets, gundams, some particular important item... if your character will die or cannot function without something very specific (ie they cannot just plug themselves into a wall socket to power their batteries), mention it here and we'll sort it out. ♥
Shining World has an optional application; you can pick up characters simply by claiming them, and getting added to the Taken List.
If I haven't played Umineko, will I be lost here?
Absolutely not! Many of our players are not at all familiar with the series. Most of our "themes" and references are given with creative liberties, to help make them more understandable. Umineko has a very complex story-- we simplified the details a little for the sake of plot.
I need some info about our hostess; who is Eureka and what are witches?
Lady Eureka is the so called Witch of Opportunity, who is using Bermuda Island as her personal playground.
Witches are powerful entities that feed on belief and can be born many different ways. A witch can be born from a very powerful emotion, a surge of magic, or simply through a strong enough belief in their existence to bring them into our world. Once born, a witch is granted stupendous magical power, which they must train and eventually master- this training can take hundreds of years. A witch is granted her greatest power when humans accept her existence and genuinely believe in magic; hence, if you do not believe in a witch at all and have no magic power, you can't see them.
Once a witch has gained the belief of many people and proved her own existence, a magnificent event will occur, and the way to the Golden Land will open.
What is the Golden Land?
The Golden Land is a banquet of the most prestigious magnitude- attended by the most powerful demons in the universe and other highly respected witches, to be given a spot in the Golden Land is a mighty honor indeed and the happiest day of a witch's long life. Reaching the Golden Land is the ultimate goal of most witches.
But something else is at work here?
Most certainly. It's clear that everything besides the mansion and guesthouses have been here much longer! Old wrecked boats and planes from any era you can imagine, and some from other worlds entirely. Will you band together and find a way home... or fall prey to a great evil who lurks out of sight?
